You will receive (1) specially minted coin by the US Mint made with 40% silver in PROOF condition. These coins never hit circulation and were only available in special sets.
President Dwight D. Eisenhower passed away in March 1969, and it was decided that he would grace the $1 coin, which hadn’t been produced since the Peace dollar was discontinued in 1935. Frank Gasparro designed the new piece, and for the reverse, he obliged to commemorate the monumental landing of U.S. astronauts on the moon, which occurred for the first time in 1969. The new Eisenhower dollar, struck in a cupronickel composition, was introduced for circulation in 1971; collectors were offered 40% silver Uncirculated and Proof strikes. While Eisenhower always graced the obverse, the reverse of the dollar, which was produced until 1978, was redesigned temporarily in honor of the 1976 bicentennial. Today, 32 issues of Eisenhower dollars are available to collectors, and they represent an excellent value for the conscientious buyer.
